Relationships matter and you know that. The road to starting and running a successful business is bumpy and full of road blocks. You will lose money, you will spend countless hours hustling, grinding and busting your butt. Don’t make the journey harder than it needs to be by doing it alone.

Coworking is your Answer. Being around people like you, or people that you want to be like is your first step to launching a successful business.

Over the last few years, coworking spaces have become more and more popular and for good reason. Coworking has worked and been so successful that some people are even going full time with co-living places. Ouside.co has done a great job of taking it to the next level. The ability to work anywhere in the world from your laptop is something many people desire.

Coworking is essentially a shared workspace that allows individuals from all backgrounds and fields to come and work in an environment that is conducive to creativity, collaboration and inspiration. A place where developers, coders, graphic designers, marketing experts, analytics, sales and all entrepreneurs become a community. A community full of creative people looking to create or do something special in this world.

With more and more people working from home, the need for coworking has become much more clear. Your home is meant to be a place where families spend time with each other. Bringing your work life into that zone can cause friction between you, your family and your job. Work life balance is still important for those without several streams of passive income.

There are countless reasons why you should join a coworking space but I’ve condensed all those reasons and bring you the top 5.

1. Become More Energized and Productive

“Coworking spaces are populated almost entirely with self-motivated, hungry entrepreneurs — who have a uniquely positive attitude towards work.” Surrounding yourself around others who are looking to do something amazing and change the world will energize and motivate you. You don’t get this environment in your home office or the local coffee shop.

2.Get in the Zone

Distractions are everywhere. Working from home or remote areas tend to be more of a distraction then a luxury. Public places with wifi can get the job done and coffee shops are accessible but think about the environment. People taking orders, other customers on the phone, kids crying, baristas chattering and car alarms going off can distract your mind. Ryan Matzner, Mobile Strategist said “Working out of an office, with like-minded, driven entrepreneurs is super beneficial, both professionally and psychologically.” Do you need a mindset shift, a change of scenery or just need to meet people doing good things? Then go to a place that people you want to be like hang out. Not everyone works best from 9am to 5pm. The flexibility and freedom coworking spaces provide allows you work when your mind works best.

3.Community

Over the last several decades, more and more people have started working from home, coffee shops or anywhere that Wi-Fi is available. People have started to recognize not everyone works best from an office or cubicle. But since there is no such thing as water cooler talk at home things can get lonely. At least you were in a building with other coworkers and if you needed help with something or wanted to bounce an idea off someone you could. Having great coworkers and people around you that are killing it will have some kind of positive effect on you.

The community is what makes a co-working space, not the location or all the amenities that are offered. The quality of your community is what has the biggest influence on your work. It is important to build a community. Coworking allows you to do that while maintaining the independence of entrepreneurship.

4. Find a Sense of Direction

Ideas come and go fast. You have thousands of ideas and just don’t know where or how to start. Learning from someone who has done it before can teach you a thing or two and it’s also my favorite thing about coworking. Working alongside other entrepreneurs, will naturally increase your IQ and help you find direction. Which will hopefully bring you one step closer to launching. Peter Gasca, entrepreneur, author and speaker, in his article on Entrepreneur.com recently wrote that networking and community are what makes coworking spaces successful. He wrote about this topic and what you need to create your own co-working space here.

5. Diversity

You will find that if you join a coworking community, you are not just signing up for a desk in a room, you become part of a community. Ideally this community will be a diverse group of people with all different backgrounds, specialties and experiences. Every successful entrepreneur has told you to focus on what you are good at and find someone else to complete that task or project that someone can do better, faster and cheaper than you. The beauty with coworking is that you have countless resources and a diverse community.

“Sometimes all you need is a supporting talk with somebody who tries as hard as you and understands how it is to have ups and downs and no guarantee that your idea will work. Sitting alone in your home or in the middle of a crowd of teenagers in Starbucks will make you only more desperate.” — Agnieszka of Deskworks.

If you are looking to start moving the ball faster and get one step closer to becoming a successful entrepreneur, think long and hard about joining the RIGHT coworking community. Alex Hillman who has been running his coworking community IndyHall has been writing about coworking for almost a decade now and sites the number one problem coworking communities have; the reason many fail is that their business is tied to the space they occupy not the community that occupies it.

There are many places you can go “rent” a desk but not many places you can call home.
